White Oak Winners (WOW) Waitlist Registration Information

The following paragraphs provide parents and legal guardians information about the waitlist registration process followed by the WOW Child Care Center at FDA. Please review the guidelines below to become familiar with the waitlist procedures and selection process at our center:

Application

Parents may submit a Waitlist Registration Form as soon as they are expecting a child (registration requires a “due date”).

Employees adopting a child can register not earlier than 9-months before the expected placement date with the family.

Parents/Legal Guardians “Desired Start Date” should be based on their need for care.

  • Parents/Legal Guardians will email the WOW Waitlist Registration Form to the email listed at the bottom of the form.

  • This Waitlist Registration Form is not an Enrollment Form and does not guarantee a spot in our program for your child on your desired start date.

  • Waitlist Registration Forms will be kept in chronological order of submission. Children will be assigned a registration date and time, not a registration number.

There are different factors that affect the enrollment selection process, like:

  • Sibling status - Families with a child currently enrolled at WOW will receive sibling priority.

  • Age of Child - Children are offered a space based on the age needed to fill the vacancy. A 6-week old infant will not be offered space in a 2-year old classroom. The first child on the waitlist who meets the age requirement will get the first offer.

When offering spots, staff members will only contact parents/legal guardians if their desired enrollment date has passed or is within 2-months of the projected opening. For example, if a spot is available for June and parents/legal guardians are looking for care in July, they will be contacted; however, if a spot is available in June and parents/legal guardians are looking for care in October, they will not be contacted.

Enrollment determination will be made in the following priority order:

1. Siblings of dependents of FDA employees (when a sibling from the same family is currently registered at WOW).

2. Siblings of dependents of employees of other Federal agencies (when a sibling from the same family is currently registered at WOW).

3. Siblings of depends of FDA Contractors (when a sibling from the same family is currently registered at WOW).

4. Other siblings of children enrolled in the Center from the same family.

5. Dependents of FDA employees.

6. Dependents of employees of other Federal agencies.

7. Dependents of FDA Contractors.

8. Dependents of those who are neither Federal government employees nor Department of State contractors.

Notification

Parents/Legal Guardians will only be contacted by the waitlist administrator when a space becomes available for their child.

Parents/Guardians must notify the center within two (2) business days of their intention to either accept or decline the space for their child.

Parents/Legal Guardians no longer working for FDA will be assigned a new priority order, according to their new status.

When parents/legal guardians are offered a space at WOW and they decline it, the child’s Waitlist Registration Form will be given a new registration date showing the decline date.

Failure to respond to an offer within two (2) business days will be considered a decline and the child’s Waitlist Registration Form will be given a new waitlist registration date showing the decline date.

Parents/Legal Guardians interested in registering a child need to complete the attached Waitlist Registration Form.

I have read and understand the application procedures listed above.
